About Us
Community-based. Rights-respecting. Sustainability-focused.
Green Harvest Empowerment and Action (GHEA) is a community-based organisation based at Ifo One, Dadaab Refugee Camp, Dadaab, Garissa County, Kenya. We work with refugees and host communities to improve livelihoods, food security, environmental conservation and social inclusion.
GHEA was formed to respond, practically and locally, to challenges facing vulnerable households: food insecurity, limited livelihood opportunities, environmental degradation, and barriers faced by orphans, persons with disabilities, widows, older people and young people. Our purpose is to help communities build sustainable, dignified lives together.

Our history & registration
GHEA began its community work in 2023, bringing together community members around sustainable farming, environmental care and support for vulnerable neighbours in Dadaab.
On 28 August 2026, Green Harvest Empowerment & Action (GHEA) was duly registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) by the Directorate of Social Development, pursuant to the Community Groups Registration Act, No. 30 of 2022 (Republic of Kenya).
